about

A powerful tale of how Tobaccer can ruin lives

lyrics

let me tell you my story
my name it is corey
and i come from lawrenceton town

me fadder was a sailor
and he had a blue schooner
the mast it was tall as the pines

one fateful night
out went the bow light
and the sea, she was far from empty

the kyle she was steamin
all full of brave seamen
she struck her right 'cross the bow

the keel she was cracked
and the water did smack
not long till the boat capsized

fadder swam for his life
got back to the wife
but life, she was never the same

he took off his soaked vest
went straight to the chest
where the sinful tobaccer was stowed

he lit up da pipe
and smacked the old wife
and that's where it all went wrong

*deedledee*

THE DORYS ARE LANDLOCKED
AND THE CRAB POTS ARE BENT
AND ME FADDER WENT ON TOBACCER

THE RUM HAS GONE SOUR
AND THE BEER HAS GONE FLAT
AND ME FADDER is ON THE TOBACCER

THE DOG FELL THROUGH THE ICE
AND THE NEPHEW'S GOT LICE
AND ME FADDER is ON DA TOBACCER

MUDDER'S CLOTHES FELL OFF THE LINE
AND NOW SHE'S ON TO DA SHINE
ALL BE CAUSE OF MY FADDER'S TOBACCER

the missus next door
she cursed and she swore
all on me fadder's name

he went to the church
the place of his birth
and pissed on his fadder's grave

me fadder's life took a turn for the worse
d'all bid the old skipper leave ho
he said that he wouldn't and believe me he couldn't
for the tobaccer it had a strong hold

it made him a monster, a fiend, a beast cursed
it sent him straight into the ground
and now i'm just here right hard on the beer
cuz fadder's no longer around

THE DORYS ARE EMPTY
AND THE CRAB POTS ARE BURNT
AND THE MAYER IS ON THE TOBACCER

THE SCHOOLS DEY ARE CLOSED
AND NOBODY KNOWS
THAT THE PRIEST E'S ON DA TOBACCER

STORE SHELVES ARE BARREN
AND DA NURSES AREN'T CARIN
FOR THOSE IN TOBACCER'S GRASP

THE CHURCH PUBES ARE EMPTY
AND THE TAVERN IS FULL
ALL BECAUSE OF ME FADDER'S TOBACCER
